Marek Siwiec MEP on Poland & Europe

Since this morning the European Parliament has been evaluating, in the urgent procedure, the last week’s summit. Herman Van Rompuy, President Barroso as well as several hundred MEPs were present during the main discussion.

In general, the assessment of the summit is positive. In general – which means for the majority of the EPP and liberals. The other political groups slightly criticize it. The socialists deplore the lack of guarantee of the social security, the elimination of the European Parliament from further work as well as the building of a democracy of financial markets instead of a market based on democratic principles. The Greens are furious at the British and demonstrate that without the treaty changes we will not achieve a lot.

The Prime Minister Cameron is the black sheep. In the protest against the Great Britain’s behaviour , this time the leader of ALDE did not speak English, but Dutch.
